Matawalle Calls for Collective Prayers to End Insecurity

Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, emphasized that only God and collective prayers can bring an end to Nigeria's escalating insecurity challenges. His remarks came in the wake of renewed attacks and kidnappings across the country, including a recent incident in Oyo State where 39 students and seven teachers were abducted, and another in Borno State where 42 pupils were reported kidnapped.

In an interview with BBC Hausa, Matawalle stated that tackling insecurity requires a collective effort from security agencies and citizens. He urged Nigerians to support government efforts and warned politicians against politicizing insecurity for personal gain.

Matawalle accused opposition figures of exploiting the situation to discredit the government and highlighted the need for unity in addressing these security challenges. He also referenced outdated videos circulating on social media that mislead the public about the current security situation, asserting that security operations in countries like Burkina Faso and Mali are ongoing and effective.
