Onne Launches First Solar-Powered Recycling Plant to Tackle Plastic Waste

Onne, a community in River State, Nigeria, inaugurates its inaugural solar-powered recycling plant in partnership with various organizations like APM Terminals Nigeria and GIVO. The plant aims to process 300 kg of plastic waste daily, totaling 90 metric tons annually.

The project, led by Justin Okwuofu and managed by Daniella Sylva, seeks to combat environmental degradation and pollution by converting plastic waste into valuable resources. Victor Boye Komolaf, the CEO of GIVO, highlights the plant's impact in preventing 2,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and creating job opportunities.

The initiative also empowers the local community economically and engages youth in environmental conservation efforts.
