Opa Williams Honors Olu Jacobs' Legacy in Nollywood

Veteran filmmaker Opa Williams honored the late actor Olu Jacobs in a tribute titled “Rapture: A Tribute to a Gentle Giant.” Williams described Jacobs as a "gentle giant" whose humility and humanity significantly influenced his career. He recounted how Jacobs was cast in Williams' first Nollywood project, Onome, after the creative team, including Keppy Ekpeyong, Fred Amata, Chico Ejiro, and Edi Lawani, approached him for a major role.

Despite initial apprehensions due to Jacobs' distinguished career, he agreed to the role of Dafe Fregene, a philanthropist, with the condition that all crew members be treated with respect. Williams noted that Jacobs' humility and concern for others on set alleviated any anxiety the team had.

He described Jacobs as a soft-spoken and generous man, whose conduct provided valuable lessons beyond acting. Williams reflected on how this experience shaped his career, stating that he transitioned from being a student to a teacher influenced by Jacobs' values.
