OPay Launches N1.2bn Scholarship with Innovation Challenge

OPay has announced the expansion of its N1.2 billion scholarship program with the introduction of an innovation challenge, which will run from May 25 to June 14, 2026. This initiative invites teams of five undergraduate students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria to participate.

The challenge aims to identify real-life societal problems and develop technology-driven solutions. Participants are required to download the Gemini app to submit their applications.

The grand prize winner will receive N10 million, while the first and second runners-up will receive N5 million and N3 million, respectively. OPay's Chief Commercial Officer, Elizabeth Wang, stated that the program reflects the company's commitment to empowering young Nigerians with resources and opportunities in the digital economy.

The partnership with Google, represented by Dotun Adekunle, will provide students access to technological tools necessary for transforming ideas into practical solutions. The initiative is designed to equip students with relevant digital skills and prepare them for future work opportunities.
