OPEC Increases Oil Output by 188,000 Bpd for June 2023

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has announced an increase in oil output by 188,000 barrels per day (bpd) for June 2023. This decision was made during a meeting involving seven member countries, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Oman, and Nigeria.

The increase is slightly less than the previous output hike of 206,000 bpd in May. The adjustment aims to stabilize the oil market, as OPEC members have struggled to meet their production quotas.

The announcement follows a voluntary adjustment made in April 2023. The geopolitical landscape, particularly the ongoing tensions related to Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, continues to impact oil supply.

Additionally, the UAE's recent exit from OPEC has raised concerns about its future oil revenue and market influence. Fitch Ratings noted that while the UAE's withdrawal may not have immediate impacts, it could help balance the country's financial situation in the long term.
