Gunmen Kill Three in Jos Attack; Police Launch Manhunt

On the night of April 3, 2026, at approximately 9:20 PM, armed assailants attacked the Chwel Nyango community in the Jo South Local Government Area of Jos, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The Plateau State Police Command, led by Alfr Alabo, promptly deployed a patrol team to the area following the incident.

Injured victims were evacuated to the hospital for treatment. State Commissioner of Police Bassei Ewah expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and described the attack as a senseless loss of life.

In response to the violence, the police have enforced a statewide ban on night movement and commercial motorcycles in Jos and Bukuru, effective April 5, 2026. Rwang Tengwong, a spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulder Association, condemned the attack and urged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly, emphasizing the need for community vigilance.
