Gunmen Disguise as NDLEA in Deadly Jos Attack

On Thursday, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State revealed that gunmen posing as operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) carried out a deadly attack in Jos, specifically in the Angwan Rukuba area. The assault resulted in at least 28 fatalities and numerous injuries.

Mutfwang disclosed that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. During a visit to the affected families, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed condolences.

Mutfwang explained that the attackers deliberately adopted a familiar pattern associated with NDLEA operations to deceive residents, who are accustomed to such law enforcement activities targeting drug-related activities. He noted that the attack was premeditated and professionally executed, with the gunmen appearing to handle advanced weaponry.

The governor urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding as security agencies work to apprehend the perpetrators, emphasizing the need to avoid reprisals that could destabilize the state and undermine ongoing peacebuilding efforts.
