Opeyemi Bamidele: Key Player in Nigeria's Senate Leadership

Opeyemi Bamidele serves as the Senate Majority Leader in the 10th National Assembly, a role that demands the management of diverse interests while maintaining a broader vision. His political journey began in the late 1980s as the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students.

He collaborated closely with Bola Tinubu in Lagos from 2000 to 2011, holding positions as a special assistant and commissioner for youth and sports, and later for information and strategy. During this period, he contributed to the completion of Teslim Balogun Stadium and renovations at Onikan Stadium and Rowe Park.

Bamidele has sponsored over 70 bills, including the elevation of Yaba College of Technology and the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti to full university status. He played a key role in the Student Loan Act that established NELFUND and has advocated for state police to address local insecurity.

His empowerment initiatives in Ekiti Central have benefited thousands of small business owners through cash grants and equipment.
