Adoke Demands Apology from FG Over OPL 245 Dispute

Mohammed Adoke, the former Attorney General of Nigeria, has called for an apology from the Federal Government following the resolution of the long-standing dispute surrounding the OPL 245 oil prospecting license. Adoke, who served under former President Goodluck Jonathan, stated that he deserves an apology for the alleged humiliation and defamation he faced both domestically and internationally due to his involvement in resolving the dispute.

He acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Tinubu in addressing the issue, which has been contentious for 15 years. The Federal Government announced the settlement agreement in a press statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga after a meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, attended by Eni's Chief Executive Officer Claudio Descalzi and other senior executives.

The resolution is expected to pave the way for final investment decisions on the Zabazaba and Etan development projects, which could significantly enhance Nigeria's oil production capacity.
