Nigerian Opposition Parties Seek Coalition Ahead of 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing a leadership crisis following a court challenge by former national vice chairman Nafiu Bala Gomb against the party's national chairman, David Mark. This turmoil has escalated as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has derecognized Mark's leadership.

The ADC, alongside factions of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and Nyesom Wike, is seeking to form a coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Recent meetings, including one attended by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and ADC spokesman Ini Ememobong, aim to unify opposition efforts to protect democratic ideals and ensure fair elections in 2027.

Dr. Hakeem Baba, the national chairman of the People's Redemption Party (PRP), expressed solidarity with the ADC, emphasizing the need for a transparent electoral process and warning against state interference in party affairs.

The ADC is committed to fighting for justice and fair play in Nigeria's multi-party democracy.
