Digital Innovation in Agriculture Education for Youth

Eneyi Oshi, founder and product strategist at Agris, emphasizes the potential of digital innovation to transform agricultural education and tackle food security challenges. In an interview with Funmi Ogundar, Oshi explains that Agris has developed a model to reshape how young people learn and participate in agriculture.

Since 2021, Agris has focused on creating smart agricultural systems and digital learning infrastructures to scale agricultural education beyond traditional classroom settings. Oshi highlights the limitations of conventional training methods, which restrict participation to a small number of students.

Agris aims to train millions by 2035 through scalable digital learning solutions. Oshi notes that digital courses can disseminate agricultural knowledge efficiently, reducing operational costs.

The hybrid approach combines digital learning with practical experiences, including partnerships with farms for field-based learning. Oshi plans to integrate immersive technologies like virtual reality to enhance access to agricultural education, particularly for urban youth, encouraging them to engage in food production within their environments.
