Nigerian Striker Osimhen Out for Three Weeks with Muscle Strain

Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen suffered a muscle strain during the 2026 World Cup playoff final against DR Congo. An MRI scan conducted in Turkey revealed a moderate level strain in his left posterior muscle.

Osimhen is expected to be out of action for three to four weeks for treatment. The injury occurred during the second half of the playoff clash in Rabat, Morocco, prompting his precautionary substitution.

Despite his absence, Nigeria's national team lost to Central African Republic in a shootout, securing the lone ticket to the intercontinental playoff against Mexico next year.
