Victor Osimhen, the forward for the Super Eagles, has publicly criticized Napoli, stating that the club treated him "like a dog." His comments follow a controversial incident where Napoli's social media mocked him after he missed a penalty in a Serie A match. Osimhen accused Napoli of inciting fans against him and claimed the club failed to honor a gentleman's agreement regarding his potential departure.

He expressed frustration over being treated like a puppet, stating, "I worked so hard to advance my career and couldn't accept that kind of treatment." Osimhen's relationship with Napoli soured to the point where the club froze him out, and they failed to register him for the Serie A team for the 2024-25 season.
