Osun State Issues Warning on Heavy Rain and Flood Risks

The Osun State Government has issued a public warning regarding the heightened risks of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and windstorms due to extreme weather conditions expected during the ongoing rainy season. This warning was communicated in a statement signed by Prof.

Chinw Obuaku, the Director General of Special Envoys to the Governor on Climate Change and Renewable Energy. The government highlighted that meteorological forecasts indicate intensified rainfall that could trigger flooding and erosion, particularly affecting vulnerable communities.

Residents in flood-prone areas, especially those near riverbanks and locations with poor drainage systems, are advised to remain on high alert and take immediate preventive actions. The government has instructed residents to clear blocked drainage channels and avoid dumping refuse in waterways to ensure proper waste disposal.

Additionally, the statement cautioned against exposure to floodwaters and unstable infrastructure during storms, urging parents to monitor their children closely during this period.
