Sam Amadi Backs Peter Obi for 2027 Presidential Race

Sam Amadi, the former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), publicly declared his support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. In a post, Amadi criticized other presidential candidates, suggesting they resemble "armed robbers in agbada," a reference to their perceived dishonesty.

His remarks were a response to a post by Aisha Achimugu, who has been accused of financial fraud and recently forfeited 13 million naira to the Federal High Court in Abuja. Amadi advised the Southeast region to concentrate on economic growth rather than pursuing the presidency, warning that they have little chance of winning the presidency in 2027, 2031, or even 2035.

He emphasized that the political landscape has shifted since Nigeria's return to democratic rule in 1999, with the Southwest producing presidents and the Southeast needing to strategize effectively to improve their political prospects.
