Otti Commissions 80-Bed Hospital in Abia, Honors Ubani

On Tuesday, Abia State Governor Alex Otti commissioned the newly remodeled and digitally equipped 80-bed Obingwa General Hospital located in Mgboko, the headquarters of Obingwa Local Government Area. The hospital has been renamed in honor of the late human rights activist Chima Ubani.

Otti emphasized that this investment is part of his administration's commitment to modernizing public healthcare and enhancing access to quality medical services, particularly for mothers and newborns. The facility is strategically positioned to serve not only Obingwa but also residents of Aba, Osisioma, and surrounding areas.

It features a healing garden, a technology-driven data management system, and various specialized medical units. Otti stated that the hospital would operate 24/7, ensuring that all patients receive necessary medical attention regardless of their social or economic status.

He also highlighted Ubani's legacy as a pro-democracy campaigner and assured continued support for his family while encouraging community protection of the facility against vandalism.
