Otu Calls for FG’s Support on Nutrition, Health Reforms

Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Otu has called for greater federal support to sustain nutrition and health reforms in the state. The administration has placed a special focus on preventive healthcare and education, with the goal of placing citizens at the center of development.

Governor Otu highlighted the success of interventions in the nutrition sector, leading to a decline in infant mortality rates. The state has also prioritized preventive healthcare, emphasizing the importance of investing in nutrition early in childcare to build a strong immune system.

The Governor thanked the Special Assistant to the President on Public Health for the visit and reiterated the commitment to improving health and education in Cross River State. The Nutrition 774 Initiative aims to address Nigeria's malnutrition crisis by elevating nutrition as a national priority, with a focus on strengthening governance structures and ensuring accountability across all 774 Local Government Areas.

Governor Otu emphasized the importance of aligning local systems with national priorities to achieve a healthy Nigerian population.
