Maiduguri Soldiers' Wives Plead for Amnesty as Boko Haram Members Get Pardoned

Wives of detained soldiers in Maiduguri lamented the disparity in treatment between their husbands and pardoned Boko Haram members. Around 30 women, including Rose Emmanuel David, protested at the NUJ Press Centre, appealing for President Bola Tinubu to grant their husbands amnesty.

They highlighted the struggles their families face while their husbands are held at the Nigerian Army 7 Division Military Police Facility for various offenses. The women emphasized that their husbands, who risked their lives for the country, deserve forgiveness and a second chance to serve.

They urged the government to extend the same mercy to soldiers as it does to repentant insurgents and bandits.
