Families Grieve Loss of Soldiers in Bandit Operation

Families of the 20 soldiers and eight vigilantes killed during a bandit operation in Wanka, Plateau State, shared their heartbreak and trauma following the incident. The operation, which took place on a Friday, involved intense gunfire against bandits in the region.

Among the deceased were Captain Aliyu Hajji from Lokoja, Captain Muhammad Sulaiman from Bauchi, and Alhaji Danladi Abdulsalam Danmaliki. Family members described the fallen soldiers as heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting their communities.

Ibrahim Sulaiman recounted his last conversation with his brother, Captain Sulaiman, just hours before his death. Other families expressed their sorrow and the challenges they now face without their loved ones, who were the primary breadwinners.

Vigilante commander Garga Abubakar Ishak vowed to continue the fight against banditry, emphasizing the need for community defense and resilience in the face of such tragedies.
