Outrage as Kano Hospital Patients Die Amid Power Disconnection Dispute

Three patients in the Intensive Care Unit at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano died after the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) disconnected the hospital's power supply due to an outstanding debt of millions. This tragic incident sparked public outrage, with the hospital accusing KEDCO of blackmail.

KEDCO's Head of Corporate Communications, Sani Bala, denied the blackmail claim and stated that electricity had been restored. The blackout had a direct impact on patients, including newborns in the pediatric unit.

The hospital and KEDCO are urged to urgently resolve the dispute to prevent further loss of life. The hospital faces the risk of sanctions if the debt is not settled promptly.
