Delta Air Lines Cancels Lagos-Atlanta Flight Twice

On August 23, 2026, Delta Air Lines cancelled flight DL9895, which was scheduled to operate from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). The cancellation was attributed to a mechanical problem detected during pre-departure safety checks.

Passengers were informed that the flight would be rescheduled after addressing the maintenance issue. However, on August 25, the flight was cancelled again, this time due to an operational problem related to crew availability.

Delta Air Lines communicated to affected passengers, stating, “We are sorry. Your flight DL9895 from Lagos (LOS) – Atlanta (ATL) was cancelled due to an issue that limited crew availability.” The cancellations have led to frustration among passengers, particularly regarding the lack of accommodation provided while they awaited alternative flights.
