Turkish Football Rocked by Massive Betting Scandal: Over 1,000 Players Suspended

A massive betting scandal has rocked Turkish football, leading to the suspension of over 1,000 players, including 27 top-flight players pending investigation by the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDB). The scandal involves allegations of widespread betting activities, with Turkish authorities arresting eight individuals, including club chairmen.

The scandal first emerged when TFF President Ibrahim Hacıosmanoğlu revealed hundreds of referees linked to betting accounts. The TFF has requested FIFA for an extension of the transfer window to allow clubs to cope with depleted squads.

Besiktas, one of Turkey's successful clubs, confirmed two of their players are among those facing disciplinary action.
