Over 400 Arrested as PSG Celebrations Turn Violent

Following Paris Saint-Germain's UEFA Champions League victory, over 400 individuals were arrested across France due to violent celebrations. Reports indicate that 416 people were arrested nationwide, with 280 arrests occurring in Paris alone.

The disturbances led to injuries for seven police officers and extensive property damage in the capital. Celebrations began peacefully but escalated into chaos as some fans clashed with police, igniting fireworks and vandalizing property.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez condemned the violence as "absolutely unacceptable." The unrest drew political reactions, particularly from far-right leader Marine Le Pen, who noted a recurring pattern of disorder linked to football victories. She expressed concern over public safety, stating that many felt compelled to stay home to avoid confrontations.

The celebrations were scheduled to continue with a parade near the Eiffel Tower, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron.
