PSG Celebrates Champions League Win Amid Heavy Security

Paris is preparing for a hero’s welcome for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who won their second consecutive UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Budapest. The celebration is expected to draw around ten thousand people, with PSG fans already gathering.

However, the event will be under heavy security due to violent incidents during previous celebrations, which resulted in clashes with police, vandalism, and numerous arrests. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez assured a strong law enforcement response, deploying nearly 6,000 police and gendarmes to ensure safety.

Over 780 arrests were made across France during the celebrations, with 57 security personnel injured. The Paris public prosecutor's office reported a young man's death following a crash during the celebrations.

Authorities have called for a "zero gathering" policy to prevent further violence, reflecting the challenges of managing large public events in the city.
