Over 500 Residents Receive Free Eye Care in Osun State

Over 500 residents from Agbeda and Imadin communities in Ilesa West Local Government Area, Osun State, benefited from a free eye care outreach organized by Vision Without Borders. This initiative, part of the second edition of the program, included free eye examinations, reading glasses, and referrals for advanced treatment as necessary.

The outreach aimed to strengthen local healthcare capacity by training community health workers and enhancing early detection of vision challenges. Dr.

Babatunde Bale, co-founder of the initiative, noted that the program was designed to complement existing healthcare structures in underserved communities. A post-intervention survey revealed that 56.41% of beneficiaries used reading glasses, while 21.61% were unaware of their need.

The outreach received support from traditional leaders and was endorsed by various stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of access to eye care services.
