PenCom: Over 552,000 Retirees Receiving Regular Pensions in Nigeria

The Pension Commission (PenCom) announced that more than 552,000 retirees in Nigeria are currently receiving regular monthly pensions under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), with total pension assets surpassing N25 trillion. The Director-General of PenCom, Omolola Oloworaran, highlighted ongoing reforms to enhance retiree welfare and ensure the long-term sustainability of the scheme.

PenCom is also introducing new regulatory frameworks, including whistleblower guidelines and revised investment regulations, to strengthen pension fund management. The Commission aims to diversify its offerings and provide seamless enrollment experiences for retirees in 2026.
