Owo Church Massacre Suspect Denies Rights Suit Knowledge

Jamiu Abdulmalik, the third defendant in the trial concerning the 2022 Owo church massacre, has denied knowledge of a fundamental rights suit filed against the Department of State Services (DSS). During cross-examination at the Federal High Court, Abdulmalik stated he was unaware of any legal action taken in his name by his counsel, Abdullahi Moham.

The prosecutor, senior advocate Ayodeji Adedeji, presented evidence of the fundamental rights suit filed in December 2024, which included Abdulmalik's name as the third applicant. However, Abdulmalik maintained that he had no knowledge of the suit and insisted that no one had approached him regarding the case.

He described the situation as contradictory to the statements made in the affidavit. Abdulmalik emphasized that his testimony reflected his personal knowledge and denied any involvement in the filing of the fundamental rights suit, stressing that he informed his lawyer about the existence of the suit in court.
