Oyedele Takes Office as Nigeria's Finance Minister

Taiwo Oyedele has officially taken over as the Minister of Finance in Nigeria, succeeding Wale Edun, who conducted the handover on Thursday within the stipulated timeline. President Bola Tinubu expressed confidence in Oyedele's ability to sustain ongoing policy reforms aimed at stabilizing the macroeconomic environment and fostering sustainable growth.

Oyedele commended Edun for his contributions to the reform efforts and pledged to work closely with the ministry's leadership and staff to deliver concrete outcomes aligned with the government's economic priorities. He highlighted the importance of building on existing reforms and ensuring impactful measures across key sectors of the economy.

The handover also marked the advancement of key fiscal and economic reforms, with a focus on improving revenue performance and fiscal coordination. Permanent Secretary Raymond Omachi and Special Duties Permanent Secretary Moham Sanusi Danjuma pledged their full support to Oyedele in advancing the ministry's mandate.
