Police Unaware of Ransom Demand in Oyo Abduction Case

Adegoke Fayoad, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, confirmed during an official visit to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters that the Nigeria Police Force is not aware of any ransom demand concerning the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Fayoad emphasized that the police are focused on ensuring the swift and safe rescue of the victims, stating that discussions about ransom are not part of their engagement.

Multiple security agencies are collaborating to secure the release of the abducted individuals as quickly as possible. Fayoad's visit aimed to strengthen supervision and review operational strategies to improve responses to evolving security threats across the country.

He also noted challenges such as manpower shortages and logistical issues that need to be addressed. The use of technology, including a centralized data system and artificial intelligence, was highlighted as a growing focus for the police in their investigative efforts.
