Oyo APC's Alli Accuses Makinde of Misusing €55M Loan

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the 2027 gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has warned Governor Seyi Makinde against diverting a €55 million (approximately N85 billion) French government concessional loan intended for healthcare improvements to fund his presidential campaign. The Senator Alli Campaign Organisation accused the Makinde administration of hastily securing the loan under the pretext of addressing "decrepit healthcare facilities" just months before the end of Makinde's term.

They expressed concerns over the establishment of a committee to quickly allocate the funds for projects close to the general election. The campaign organization recalled that the Oyo State House of Assembly approved a request from Makinde in June to raise a N200 billion bond to refinance the state's debt.

They questioned the sincerity of these financial decisions, especially given the significant increase in monthly allocations to the state and local councils following the removal of the petrol subsidy.
