Alli Urges Makinde to Use €55M Loan for Healthcare Only

The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation has issued a warning to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde regarding the potential diversion of a €55 million (approximately N85 billion) concessional loan from the French Government. This loan is designated for the enhancement of deteriorating healthcare facilities in Oyo State.

The campaign organization cautioned that the funds should not be used for hastily conceived projects linked to Makinde's presidential aspirations, especially with only four months until the general election and eight months remaining in his administration. They emphasized that the loan represents a significant financial obligation, with repayments set to begin under the next administration.

The organization also expressed concerns over a recent request by Makinde to raise a N200 billion bond to refinance the state's debt. They called for transparency regarding the loan's terms, disbursement, and implementation, insisting that the funds must not be misappropriated for inflated contracts or political activities.
