Oyo Police Arrest Three for Family Murder in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command arrested three suspects—Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo, and Padonu Edward—in connection with the murder and robbery of a family in Oloba Village, Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan. The incident occurred on September 22, 2026, at approximately 7 pm, when the assailants attacked Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife, and their four children.

Armed with a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses, and a club, the suspects stole N200,000 in cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a chainsaw machine, and a spraying machine. During the assault, Hammed Akinbami shot the husband, while Ojo and Edward attacked the wife.

Tragically, two of the children were tied up and thrown into a river, and the rest of the family was also killed. The police recovered several items from the scene and confirmed the suspects' confessions during interrogation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, ordered a thorough investigation, with the case file to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
