OYLREA Impounds 13 Cattle for Illegal Grazing in Oyo

The Oyo State Law Enforcement Agency (OYLREA) impounded 13 cattle due to illegal grazing activities in the Olowa area of Ido Local Government Area. This enforcement action followed formal complaints from farmers regarding the destruction of their farmland caused by unregulated grazing.

The OYLREA team, accompanied by security personnel, confirmed that the cattle were grazing illegally on government-acquired agricultural land designated for crop production. The impounding of the cattle was conducted in accordance with the Oyo State Anti-Open Grazing Law of 2019, which aims to prevent further crop destruction and protect farmers' livelihoods.

Hon. Justice Aderonk Aderemi, the chairperson of OYLREA, reaffirmed the state government's commitment to enforcing this law across all 33 local government areas. She warned livestock owners to vacate government farm settlements immediately and encouraged herders to adopt modern ranching practices.

Aderemi also urged the public to report cases of illegal grazing to the authorities.
