Oyo Government Lifts Curfew Amid Kidnapping Concerns

The Oyo State Government announced the lifting of the curfew that was previously imposed on ten local government areas due to recent kidnapping incidents involving students and teachers in Oriir Local Government Area. State Commissioner Dotun Oyelad made the announcement available to journalists in Ibadan on Saturday.

The curfew was introduced as an emergency security measure to prevent further attacks and support rescue operations after gunmen abducted a pupil, a teacher, and a school worker during an attack on a school in Oriir. This situation heightened fears among residents, prompting the government to restrict movement and deploy security personnel strategically to intensify surveillance and track down the abductors.

The government expressed gratitude to residents for their cooperation and patience during the curfew and assured them of ongoing efforts to monitor the security situation. The community has called for stronger security measures to prevent similar incidents and improve intelligence gathering and security patrols.
