Oyo Social Workers Trained in Child Protection Data Management

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion in Oyo State, Faosat Sanni, announced a two-day training program for Auxiliary Social Workers held at the Ministry's Conference Room in Ibadan. This training is deemed timely and significant for improving child protection services, as it focuses on the necessity of accurate, timely, and reliable information for decision-making and case management.

Aminu Awal-Sani, UNICEF Child Protection Officer for Data, Planning and Monitoring, highlighted the state's transition from paper-based to digital case management using the Primero platform. This system will allow Auxiliary Social Workers to manage cases directly from the field, enhancing real-time monitoring and data reliability.

Dennis Onoise, Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF Lagos Field Office, emphasized strengthening community-based child protection structures due to the shortage of professional social workers. The training included 50 Auxiliary Social Workers from Ibadan South-West Local Government Area and is set to expand to other local government areas to further equip community-based social workers.
