Oyo State Trains 116 Agricultural Extension Agents

The Oyo State Government has successfully trained 116 extension agents and monitoring officers as part of its efforts to strengthen agricultural service delivery. The training, which was declared open by Dotun Oyelade, is aimed at ensuring transparency in government interventions and enhancing food production.

Olasunkanmi Olaley emphasized that agriculture is a central pillar of the economic development agenda under Governor Seyi Makinde's administration. The introduction of an upgraded mapping application represents a significant milestone in the 50% tractor subsidy program, enabling accurate geo-referencing of farm locations and sizes, eliminating duplication, and ensuring fair allocation of subsidies.

Abosed Owoey, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, noted that the program will continue to provide significant support to farmers, reducing land preparation costs and improving the timeliness of farm operations. The training is designed to equip participants with the necessary technical knowledge and practical skills to effectively utilize the improved mapping application.
