PalmPay Launches Initiative to Empower Women in Fintech

PalmPay has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing women's participation in the financial technology sector through the launch of the third edition of its Purple Women initiative. This program is designed to equip young women with digital business leadership skills necessary for success in the evolving digital economy.
The initiative was announced during the Global Women’s Masterclass, organized in collaboration with the Global Women’s Intern Campaign in Nigeria, to commemorate International Women’s Day. Chika Nwosu, Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, highlighted the low representation of women in fintech and the broader technology ecosystem, aiming to build a pipeline of female professionals in leadership roles.
The program focuses on economic empowerment, mentorship, and skill development, offering internship opportunities to participants. Ten participants will be selected for a six-month internship across various departments within PalmPay, including marketing and product development.
The initiative also aims to address the challenges women face in maintaining career momentum during life stages such as marriage and childbirth.
