Panic in Abuja Schools Over Alleged Bandit Invasion

On Thursday, panic erupted in schools located in the Nyanya suburb of Abuja after allegations surfaced that a group of bandits had invaded the area with the intent to abduct students for ransom. This rumor prompted parents to rush to schools, withdrawing their children for safety.

The incident reportedly originated from the Phase 1 Primary School in Gbagalape, Abuja, and quickly spread through social media, leading to a mass exodus of students from various schools. However, a correspondent visiting the schools found the situation to be calm, with security measures in place.

The principal of Newphas Academy, who requested anonymity, confirmed that they had received information about the alleged bandit invasion but assured that adequate security measures were implemented. To accommodate concerned parents, students were allowed to leave school at 2 PM instead of the usual 3 PM.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command responded swiftly, stating that the panic was a false alarm.
