Pantami: APC's Future Relies on Fair Primaries

Isa Pantami, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserted that the party's survival hinges on the conduct of fair and credible primaries. Speaking to journalists during a screening exercise for APC governorship aspirants held at the Kaduna State Governor's Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, Pantami highlighted the necessity for transparency and independence in the primary process.

He warned against the ongoing controversies surrounding the endorsement of Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna as a consensus candidate, which he previously dismissed as a charade. Pantami stressed that the APC must demonstrate its commitment to internal democracy and justice, as the party's legitimacy is at stake.

He praised the screening exercise for its professionalism and transparency. Additionally, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, a governorship aspirant from Bauchi, described his own screening experience as smooth, reflecting the long-standing legacy of the APC.

Tuggar expressed concerns about the increasing number of aspirants, suggesting that it complicates the outcome of the primaries.
