PayPal Launches International Naira Payment in Nigeria Through Paga Partnership

PayPal has introduced international Naira payment acceptance in Nigeria in collaboration with Paga, a major fintech platform. This move aims to enhance financial inclusion and cross-border commerce for Nigerian users, allowing them to receive payments in Naira directly for the first time in 20 years.

Users can link their PayPal accounts to Paga's digital wallet, enabling seamless transactions. The integration is viewed as a significant step towards bridging global income with Nigeria's domestic economy.

While the launch generated enthusiasm, some Nigerians, especially freelancers and remote workers, remain cautious due to past account restrictions and payment issues. Local fintech platforms like Flutterwave, with their robust infrastructure, are increasingly gaining trust as alternatives to PayPal in Nigeria.
