PDP Chieftain Segun Sowunmi Declares Intent to Run for Ogun State Governorship in 2027

Segun Sowunmi, a former spokesperson for ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and a People's Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has announced his intention to contest the Ogun State governorship seat in 2027. Sowunmi made this declaration during an interactive session with journalists via Zoom, emphasizing the pressing need to tackle issues such as insecurity, education, healthcare, and governance challenges facing the state.

He criticized the current administration for what he described as a lack of continuity in policies and programs aimed at developing Ogun State, stressing the need for economic opportunities to be fully harnessed in the state. Sowunmi also lamented the state of healthcare infrastructure in Ogun, particularly citing the condition of the oldest government hospital located in Abeokuta.

He vowed to offer support and bring forth innovative ideas to govern the state effectively.
