PDP Crisis Deepens in North West Nigeria as Leaders Reject Consensus Candidate

The North West PDP leaders accused Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal of acting unilaterally in endorsing Turaki without proper consultation. The leaders emphasized the need for a transparent and consultative process in selecting candidates to avoid undermining internal democracy within the party.

The meeting also featured discussions on potential 2023 governorship candidates from the region. The disagreement among party leaders reflects ongoing divisions within the PDP, with factions loyal to different figures like Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike and Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman, ahead of the party's convention.
