“PDP Has Closed Shop”: Ex-Abia Deputy Governor Defects to Labour Party Ahead of 2027 Election

Former Abia State Deputy Governor, Ude Chukwu, has defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP) ahead of the 2027 elections. Chukwu made the announcement at his country home in Nkoro Ohafia Local Government Area, citing his dissatisfaction with the PDP's leadership.

He praised Governor Alex Otti's leadership and expressed his commitment to governance. Meanwhile, Governor Otti welcomed Chukwu to the Labour Party and commended his courage.

In a related development, former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Kolapo, also left his party due to a lack of credible opposition leadership. Additionally, former NAFDAC Director, Paul Orhii, resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) citing personal reasons.

These defections mark a shift in political allegiances as the 2027 elections approach.
