PenCom Reports 11.18 Million Pension Registrations in Q1

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) disclosed that cumulative Retirement Savings Account (RSA) registrations under the Contributory Pension Scheme rose to 11,183,475 at the end of Q1 2026. This marks an increase of 143,248 accounts from 11,040,227 at the end of Q4 2025.
PenCom's report indicated that the quarterly growth is significantly stronger than the 114,864 accounts opened in Q4 2025, attributed to improved digital onboarding and sustained public sensitization. Despite this growth, active pension membership covers only about 12.1% of Nigeria's estimated 92-million workforce.
PenCom is promoting the Micro Pension Plan, now called the Personal Pension Plan, to include self-employed individuals and micro-enterprises. The top five Pension Fund Administrators accounted for 54.41% of new RSA registrations, with Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers leading at 25,024 new registrations (17.47%).
Female registrations were 44.08%, while males were 55.92%, indicating a narrowing gender gap. Contributors under 40 years made up 75.31% of new enrolments.
