NALPGAM Blames Middlemen for Cooking Gas Price Surge in Nigeria

The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) attributed the rising cost of cooking gas in the country to activities of middlemen, leading to an artificially induced price hike. The association clarified that the price surge was not an official increase but a result of market dynamics influenced by the scarcity of the product.

NALPGAM linked the price increase to an industrial dispute involving the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and Dangote Refinery. The association assured Nigerians that normalcy would return once the market stabilizes, urging marketers not to exploit the current shortage for undue profits.
