Peter Obi Claims FG Plot Against 2027 Presidential Bid

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has alleged that the federal government is attempting to prevent him from appearing on the ballot for the 2027 presidential elections. He made these claims during a guest lecture at the NextGen Mentorship Leadership Initiative at Madonna University in Okija, Anambra State.

Obi reacted to a recent Federal High Court judgment that set aside an earlier ruling directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC. Despite this legal setback, Obi asserted that it would not derail his political ambitions and expressed confidence that he would be on the ballot.

He also challenged President Bola Tinubu to a public debate, stating his desire for a Nigeria where merit prevails and all citizens have equal opportunities. Obi emphasized the need for leadership to tackle insecurity and criminal challenges in Nigeria and urged Nigerians to remain peaceful and committed to democratic values.
