Peter Obi Demands Justice for Effurun Extrajudicial Killing

Peter Obi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, condemned the extrajudicial killing of a young Nigerian in Effurun, Delta State, describing it as a grave violation of the rule of law. In a statement shared via X on Wednesday, Obi insisted that no individual should be deprived of life without due process and a fair determination of guilt.

He noted that such incidents exacerbate public anxiety in a society already grappling with insecurity. Obi commended the Nigerian police for their swift response to the incident and expressed confidence that the authorities would ensure justice is served.

He highlighted the trauma inflicted on the bereaved families and the deepening public anxiety in a nation already distressed by reports of brutal killings and terror organizations. Obi emphasized that the nature of the incident, especially when involving state actors, worsens the psychological burden and erodes public confidence in safety and security.
