Peter Obi Condemns Police Extrajudicial Killing in Delta

Peter Obi, a presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), condemned the extrajudicial killing of a young man by police in Effurun, Delta State. He described the incident as barbaric and a grave violation of the rule of law, emphasizing that no individual should be deprived of life without due process.

Obi noted that such incidents exacerbate public anxiety and erode confidence in Nigeria's security institutions, which are already under strain from recurring reports of police brutality. Furthermore, Obi called for transparency and accountability within security agencies and advocated for a more rigorous recruitment process to ensure that individuals entrusted with firearms possess sound judgment and the right mindset.
