Peter Obi Engages Sultan of Sokoto on National Issues

Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, at his palace ahead of town-hall engagements in the region. Obi was accompanied by his running mate, Senator, and other team members.

During the visit, they expressed condolences to the Sultan over the recent death of the Sardauna of Sokoto. Obi emphasized the urgent need to address insecurity, reduce poverty, and create jobs for citizens, stating that his campaign aims to rebuild public confidence in Nigeria's future.

The Sultan welcomed the delegation and discussed the state of the nation, highlighting security, poverty, and unemployment as pressing challenges. He also spoke about Nigeria's diversity as a strength.

Obi reiterated that his campaign does not favor any religion but seeks to ensure safety and prosperity for all citizens. The Sultan noted his long-standing relationship with Obi, dating back to 1980 when Obi was a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
