Peter Obi Mourns Nollywood Actor Alexx Ekubo's Death

Peter Obi, the former president of the Labour Party, mourned the death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, calling it a painful loss to the Nigerian entertainment industry. In a statement shared on Friday, Obi noted that Ekubo's passing left millions of admirers across the country in mourning.

He extended condolences on behalf of himself and the Labour Party, expressing support for the young creatives in Nigeria. Obi emphasized the fragility of life and the importance of living with purpose, kindness, and compassion.

He prayed for strength and comfort for Ekubo's family, friends, and colleagues in Nollywood, as well as for the actor's soul to rest in peace. Alexx Ekubo, aged 40, had been battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer, and his family confirmed his passing on May 11, 2026, at Evercare Hospital in Lagos, requesting privacy as they mourned the late actor.
